Hezbollah doesn’t care who rules Israel

Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem said they were not worried about the results of Israel’s election, insisting that their “resistance” against their neighbor would continue regardless of who wins.

With 85 percent of the votes counted in Israel’s election on Tuesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing coalition is slightly ahead of the main opposition coalition, but it has fallen short of a majority.

“We have no problem with who is ruling Israel. But it is good to know clearly that they cannot continue their occupation and must leave our land,” Naim Qassem said in a written statement.

He added, “The resistance struggle will continue… and any aggression directed against us and Lebanon will be confronted. As long as the occupation and aggression continue, there is no room for discussion about Hezbollah’s disarmament.”

This group, which dominates the Lebanese political scene, has been weakened after being involved in two wars against Israel.

Last June, Lebanese and Israeli authorities signed a framework agreement that included the disarmament of Hezbollah, a phased withdrawal of Israel from occupied territory, and the deployment of Lebanese troops in the area.

However, Israel continues to carry out sporadic attacks and destruction in and around the occupied territories, while Hezbollah has refused to accept the government’s plan to disarm it.
