The new prices came into effect from 10 am on Thursday.

In a statement, Bajus said that the new price adjustment has been made due to the increase in the price of acidic gold in the local market.

According to the new fixed price, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT, has been increased by Tk 1,633 to Tk 224,707. Bajus said that wages will have to be paid according to the design when selling gold jewelry. The organization also said that VAT cannot be collected separately from customers as VAT is attached to the selling price of gold and silver jewelry.

According to the Bajus directive, 12 percent will be deducted for exchanging ornaments and 18 percent for buying old gold, excluding wages and stone prices. However, VAT cannot be deducted separately for exchanging or buying ornaments. This rate will remain effective in all jewelry establishments in the country until further notice.
