Pakistan, Malaysia to increase intelligence sharing

Pakistan and Malaysia have agreed to strengthen intelligence sharing to combat terrorism, drug trafficking and human trafficking. The decision was taken during a meeting between Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Malaysian counterpart Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail in Islamabad on Saturday.

The meeting discussed enhancing cooperation in counter-terrorism operations, combating drug and human trafficking, illegal immigration and cybercrime. It was also decided to increase training and skill exchange between the National Police Academy of Pakistan and the Royal Malaysian Police College.

The two countries also agreed to form a joint working group on coast guard cooperation and security. Discussions also focused on increasing tourism and easing visa procedures. Naqvi also expressed hope for an increase in the worker quota to increase legal employment opportunities for Pakistanis in Malaysia.
