A three-member investigation committee has been formed at Rajshahi University (RU) following a fight between students of the Management Department and Chemistry Department over a trivial incident.
The matter was confirmed by the university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Abdul Alim on Wednesday night.
Former Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Professor of Crop Science and Technology Saiful Islam has been appointed as the convener of the investigation committee. The other two members of the committee are Professor Ariful Islam, Chairman of the Department of Philosophy, and Professor Dr. Shahal Uddin, Chairman of the Department of Land and Legal Administration.
The committee has been tasked with investigating the incident, identifying those involved, and uncovering the true cause of the incident.
It is worth noting that a clash broke out between students of the Department of Management Studies and the Department of Chemistry over sitting on chairs. At least four students of the Department of Chemistry were injured in the clash. The injured were sent to Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) Hospital after receiving primary treatment at the university medical center. The clash and vandalism took place around 10 pm on Tuesday behind the university’s Nabab Abdul Latif Hall and in the academic buildings of the two departments.
