Malaysian High Commissioner to Dhaka Mohammad Shuhada Osman met with Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain. The meeting was held at the Health Minister’s office at the Secretariat on Tuesday (August 18).
During the meeting, they emphasized strengthening mutual cooperation between the two countries, especially in the health sector.
Referring to Malaysia’s progress in the medical field, the High Commissioner said that Cambodian patients used to go to Thailand earlier.
Now they go to Malaysia because the cost of various medical treatments and medicines in Malaysia is fixed and is lower than in other countries.
Stating that Malaysia could be a good destination for treatment of Bangladeshi patients, he said, interested Bangladeshis can get any necessary services and assistance through the ‘Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council’.
Praising Malaysia’s medical system, the Health Minister said that training in complex medical fields such as kidney, liver and bone marrow transplantation can be arranged in Malaysia to enhance the skills of Bangladeshi specialist doctors.
