Injury worries ahead of Australia tour, what will the Tigers’ team look like?

Bangladesh will tour Australia next month to play a two-match Test series. The Tigers will play a Test series on Australian soil after a long 23 years. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will announce the team early next week, keeping this series of the ICC World Test Championship in mind.

Hosts Australia have already announced a strong team. Captain Pat Cummins, pacer Josh Hazlewood and experienced off-spinner Nathan Lyon have returned from injury. Almost all the cricketers who were in the Ashes series are in the team. As a result, a tough test awaits Bangladesh.

However, Bangladesh is worried about injuries before announcing the team. The participation of wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das and pacer Nahid Rana is still uncertain.

Liton is currently in Singapore for treatment. A final decision will be taken after receiving his scan report there as per the doctors’ advice. On the other hand, the team management will take a decision on Nahid Rana, who is on a tour of Zimbabwe, after assessing his physical condition.

A BCB source said that the board wants to go with as full a team as possible, considering a tough tour like Australia. Therefore, special attention is being paid to the fitness of Liton and Nahid.

The first Test of the series will begin in Darwin on August 13. The second and final Test will be played in Mackay on August 22. This will be the first time Bangladesh will play a Test series on Australian soil since 2003. The series holds special significance for both teams as it is crucial for the points table of the World Test Championship.
