Gusts or squally winds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour are expected in seven regions of the country, including Dhaka, along with the possibility of rain and thunderstorms, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has said.
The forecast for the next six hours from 7 am on Saturday (August 15) says that the sky may remain temporarily cloudy in Dhaka and surrounding areas. There may be rain and thunderstorms during this time. Winds are likely to blow from the south or southeast at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour. The day temperature may remain almost unchanged.
The Meteorological Department said that at 6 am on Saturday, the temperature in Dhaka was 27.8 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity was 87 percent. On Friday, the highest temperature recorded in Dhaka was 35 degrees Celsius. Today’s minimum temperature is 27.5 degrees Celsius. Dhaka has received 1 millimeter of rain in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, in the forecast for inland river ports from 5 am to 1 pm, a gale warning has been issued for Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar. Temporary gusts or gales of 45 to 60 kmph from the south or southeast may blow over these areas. At the same time, there is a possibility of rain or thundershowers. River ports in these areas have been asked to hoist naval warning signal number 1.
The overall weather forecast says that light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, are likely to occur in many places in Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions and some areas in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions by 6 pm on Saturday.
In addition, moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to occur in some parts of the country. There is also a possibility of a slight decrease in day and night temperatures across the country.
According to the Meteorological Department, the sunset in Dhaka on Saturday will be at 6:32 pm and the sunrise on Sunday will be at 5:34 am.
