A two-and-a-half-year-old girl named Mosha Naurin was killed after being run over by a battery-powered auto-rickshaw on Begunbari slope under the industrial area police station in Tejgaon in the capital.
The accident occurred on Begunbari slope under Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station around 5 pm on Tuesday.
The child’s father, van driver Nazim Mia, said, “I was leaving home for work in the afternoon. At that time, my daughter Naureen was going out with her father. Then, Naureen, her mother Shirina Begum and younger son Sajeeb went out for a walk. Suddenly, Naureen ran forward from my hand. At that time, a speeding battery-powered auto-rickshaw ran over Naureen. Naureen fell on the road and suffered serious head injuries. Later, she was rescued from there and first taken to a local hospital. Later, in the evening, she was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the doctor on duty declared her dead.”
Inspector-in-charge of DMCH Police Camp Md. Faruk said the body has been kept in the hospital morgue. The matter has been informed to the concerned police station.
