Opposition leader Shafiqul Rahman has called for swift justice in the murder case of four-year-old Fahima in Sylhet, urging the government to complete legal proceedings within 15 days.
During a visit to the victim’s family home on Tuesday, he expressed deep condolences and demanded immediate punishment for those responsible for the brutal killing, which also involved attempted abduction and assault.
He said incidents like this are increasing due to delays in justice and lack of accountability, stressing the need for stronger legal action to prevent similar crimes in the future.
Family members shared details of the incident with the opposition leader, who assured them of support in ensuring justice. He also urged society to remain vigilant and united against such violence.
Several central and local leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami were present during the visit.
