As part of his election promise, Netrokona-3 (Kendua-Atpara) constituency MP and District BNP General Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam Hilali has provided financial assistance to four ailing imams and muezzins from the government honorarium he received as an MP.

The donation money was handed over to them at a ceremony organized at their residence in Kendua Upazila on Friday at 12:30 pm.

More than fifty imams-moazzins, scholars-ulamas, leaders of the trust and leaders of the Ulama Party from various mosques of the upazila were present at the event. While donating the donation, Dr. Rafiqul Islam Hilali said that as per the promise made to the people before the elections, he is trying to be by the side of the people to the best of his ability.

Imams and muezzins play an important role in mosque-centered religious and social activities. It is necessary to stand by those who are facing financial difficulties due to illness.

He said that initiatives have been taken to provide assistance to sick and helpless people from the government honorarium received as a public representative.

He also said that such assistance will be continued in phases. The scholars, ulamas, imams, and muezzins present at the event welcomed this initiative.
