A road accident in Naogaon has left one person dead and two children injured after a Dhaka-bound bus collided with a battery-powered autorickshaw on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred around 11:30 AM at Tulsiganga Bridge point on the Naogaon–Bogura regional highway. The deceased was identified as Nowsad (24), a resident of Dogachhi Singrapara village under Naogaon Sadar upazila.
According to police and eyewitnesses, the bus hit the autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction, crushing its front portion and killing Nowsad on the spot. The injured children were rushed to Naogaon 250-bed General Hospital for treatment.
Following the accident, local residents blocked the highway in protest, halting traffic and causing long tailbacks on both sides of the road. Police later brought the situation under control, and traffic resumed after nearly two hours.
Naogaon Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Asaduzzaman said legal procedures are underway, and the body will be handed over to the family after completion of formalities.
