The ‘Newcomer and Career Guideline Program-2026’ was held at Noakhali University of Science and Technology (NOUST) in a grand manner to welcome the students of the 2025-26 academic year. The program was organized in two sessions at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Mohammad Ruhul Amin Auditorium of the university on Saturday under the initiative of the Chhatrashibir NOUST branch. About 1,100 new students from various faculties and institutes of the university participated in it.
The first session of the program began at 10 am. Students from the faculties of Engineering and Technology, Science and Biology participated in it. The chief guest of the first session was Professor Dr. Md. Atiar Rahman, former Vice-Chancellor of Rangamati Science and Technology University, and the main discussant was Chhatra Shibir Central President Nurul Islam Saddam.
Later, the second session was organized at 2 pm. Students from the faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Business Education, Law and Education Science, as well as IIS and IIT Institutes participated in it. The chief guest of this session was Professor of History Department of Jagannath University Dr. Mohammad Bilal Hossain and the former central president of Chhatra Shibir, Zahidul Islam, spoke as the main discussant.
The organization’s central president Nurul Islam Saddam spoke at the event, chaired by Arifur Rahman Saikat, president of Nobiprabi Chhatra Shibir, and moderated by General Secretary Abdur Rahman.
He remembered the martyrs of the July Movement with deep respect and said, “The aspiration of the July Revolution and the sun that rose after so much sacrifice has once again been covered by clouds. Only the power has changed, but the expected change has not been fully implemented.”
Demanding that 100 percent housing be ensured in every university in the country, he added that if it is possible to implement large mega projects in the country, it is also possible to ensure residential facilities for students.
In his speech as the president, Arifur Rahman Saikat said, “Admission to university is not the end of success; real success will come only if you can come out after four years with the necessary skills, the right action plan and goals.” Calling on students to maintain unity, brotherhood and discipline despite differences in opinions and political identities, he advised them to stay away from any violence, crime and drugs. At the same time, he emphasized on developing leadership by getting involved in co-curricular activities.
The program also included speeches by District Jamaat Ameer Ishaq Khandaker, Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics Department of Nobi Prabi Abdul Karim, Lecturer of BMB Department Mohammad Shariful Islam, Former Presidents of Nobi Prabi Chhatra Shibir Tahfimul Maruf and Matiur Rahman, and representatives of new students. Along with the discussion, Funun Shilpi Gosthi performed a delightful cultural program.
At the end of the program, all the participating new students were given copies of the Holy Quran with Bengali translation, notepads, pens, key rings, and gift bags. Lunch was also provided for all those present.
