The population of the besieged Palestinian territory of Gaza was about 2.3 million before the Israeli invasion began on October 7, 2023. More than 73,000 residents of the strip have been killed in the nearly three-year-long invasion, a figure that equates to one in every 33 residents of the war-torn region.
This was revealed after analyzing data provided by the Palestinian Ministry of Health on Saturday. A ceasefire has been in place in Gaza since October 10 last year. However, despite the ceasefire, Israeli forces have been carrying out regular attacks targeting local Palestinians.
The Health Ministry said in a statement yesterday that two people were killed and four others were injured in Israeli attacks in Gaza in the previous 48 hours. This brings the total number of Palestinians killed and 4,252 injured in the 10 months of the ceasefire to 1,285. In addition, 813 more bodies were recovered from rubble during this period. In total, 73,419 Palestinians have been killed in the nearly three-year-long massacre in Gaza. 174,364 have been injured.
Before the invasion, one in every 33 residents of the Gaza Strip was killed, while one in every 14 was injured.
According to the Health Ministry, many Palestinian bodies are still buried under the rubble spread across Gaza by Israeli attacks. It is not possible to recover them due to a lack of necessary equipment.
According to UNICEF, 20,179 children were killed and 44,143 injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza in the two years from October 7, 2023 to October 7, 2025.
