Police Inspector Md. Abir Hossain of Shariatpur’s Naria Circle Office was supposed to return to work on Sunday after a two-day leave. However, he died of a sudden stroke before that.
The incident occurred at his home in the Chapra Mosque area of Faridpur Sadar Upazila around 2 pm on Saturday.
The deceased, Md. Abir Hossain, was the son of Abu Bakar Molla of Gopalpur village in Alfadanga upazila of Faridpur. He was working as a police inspector at the Naria Circle Office in Shariatpur.
According to family and Naria Circle Office sources, Abir Hossain went to his house on Thursday (August 20) on a two-day leave. Electrical work was going on in the house at that time. On Saturday afternoon, he went to the roof of the house to check the progress of the work.
Abir Hossain, who saw a mechanic working there being electrocuted, suddenly suffered a stroke. He was later rescued by local residents and died on the way to the hospital.
The deceased’s sister said that her brother was alone at home. When a mechanic went to the roof to supervise electrical work, he was electrocuted. Seeing this, her brother immediately suffered a stroke and died on the way to the hospital.
Naria Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Muhammad Mohiuddin Miraj said that Inspector Abir Hossain had gone to his home in Faridpur on a two-day leave and was supposed to return to his workplace on Sunday. He added that Abir Hossain was already a stroke patient. The Naria Circle Office is deeply saddened by his sudden death and the police administration will always stand by the family of the deceased.
The untimely death of Police Inspector Abir Hossain has cast a shadow of grief among his colleagues.
