With the massive decline in the results of this year’s SSC and equivalent exams, the number of educational institutions with zero passes has also increased. Various education boards have already started the process of taking necessary action against these institutions. Initially, the concerned authorities are being directly shown the notice. It is learnt that further punishment will be recommended based on their response.
The results released on Monday showed that this time, no candidate passed from 226 Madrasa Education Board institutions, including 57 from 9 general boards and 29 from technical boards. This time, the number of institutions with zero passes has increased by 178 compared to last time. Education Minister Ehsanul Haque Milon said at the results release ceremony that action will be taken against these institutions.
However, despite the same show cause notices being issued to educational institutions with zero passes every year, the education boards are unable to escape it. Because, as new institutions are added to the list every year, they are being saved from the final punishment, according to those concerned.
Meanwhile, this time, questions have arisen about the failure of the zero pass educational institutions despite the very small number of examinees. Because, although most of the educational institutions have adequate manpower including teachers and officials, the number of examinees is less than one to 10. However, it is known that there are no zero pass schools in the Sylhet and Comilla boards this time.
Madrasa Education Board Chairman Professor Khondaker Mohammad Sadequr Rahman told Amar Desh on Tuesday that show cause notices have already been issued to madrasas with zero passes. These institutions will be called to the board in five days. After hearing their answers or explanations directly about the failure of any examinee to pass, further recommendations will be made to the Ministry of Education or the Madrasa Directorate. This is because the Madrasa Board does not have the jurisdiction to impose any kind of punishment.
Stating that the zero-pass educational institutions are already facing a lot of pressure from the local people, the education board chairman added, “In the past, no one had the opportunity to pass without studying, but now they will not.” He hopes that many people will take up education in view of this situation. He criticized the educational institutions concerned for not being able to make a small number of examinees pass despite having 10 to 15 teachers and manpower.
Regarding the initiative to take action against educational institutions that give zero passes, Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, told Amar Desh that the institutions concerned will be held accountable. A report will be prepared and action will be taken based on the answers given by the concerned institutions.

He said that educational institutions that have zero passes are warned not to produce the same result a second time. If someone produces the same result a third time, disciplinary action is taken, including cancellation of the MPO of that educational institution. However, generally, no final action is taken if an institution does not produce zero passes a second time.
Madrasa Board zero pass institutions and examinees
None of the six candidates from Kapasia’s Ikuria Sirazia Girls Dakhil Madrasa under the Madrasa Board passed. Similarly, six from Kapasia’s Pachua Darus Sunnah Dakhil Madrasa, 18 from Mirua Alim Madrasa in the same area, 15 from Suturia Fazlul Haque Khan Dakhil Madrasa in Narsingdi, 8 from Karokir Char Akimunnesa Dakhil Madrasa in Kalkini, 1 from Karokir Char Hamidia Dakhil Madrasa in Kalkini, 10 from Uttar Ramjanpur Jinnatia Dakhil Madrasa, 11 from Mazar Ali Akand Dakhil Madrasa in Mymensingh, 7 from Boro Dakhil Madrasa in Gafargaon, and two from Laxmipur Nasiruddin Dakhil Madrasa in Gouripur did not pass.
Similarly, among the zero-pass madrasas, there are institutions in various parts of the country, including six in Mymensingh, one each in Jamalpur, Natore and Tangail, four in Rajshahi, and five in Naogaon.
Mymensingh Board
Four educational institutions with zero passes in the Mymensingh board are Monija Abul Girls High School in Sarishabari, Jamalpur (11 examinees), Muktagachha College (four), Shaheed Smriti Girls High School (five) and Kadamtali Karipara High School (three).
Dhaka Board
No one passed from six institutions of the Dhaka Education Board. They are Tangail’s Salimabad Anwar Khan Model High School (eight examinees) and Gobindapur High School (10), Rajbari’s Bongram Atarunnesa Girls High School (11) and Jaldia High School (seven), Kishoreganj’s Jangalia Union Girls High School (five) and Bangladesh Doel Academy in Athens, the foreign center (one).
Chittagong Board
No one passed from eight educational institutions of the Chittagong Board. They are Narayanhat Girls High School (three), Andarmanik Junior High School (10), Mahalchhari High School (15), Urirchar Junior High School (10), Jarulchhari High School (19), Tarabania High School (five) and the number of examinees from two other schools is five and 17.
Jessore Board
The list of institutions with zero passes in Jessore board includes Satkhira Night School (seven), Helenji Krishnabati Secondary Girls School in Manirampur (one), Katenga Secondary School in Dumuria, Khulna (four), DN Ekta Girls High School in Sharankhola, Bagerhat (two), Godara Secondary School in Asashuni, Satkhira (four), Asma Sarwar Islamic High School in Khalishpur, Khulna (four), Chandua Girls High School (three), Saratola Junior High School in Sharsha (two), Baburabad Dhupkhali Secondary School in Satkhira (four), Muktijoddha GKGS Secondary Girls School in Sharsha (one) and Sahebkhali Siddique Gazi Secondary School in Shyamnagar (four).
In addition, 18 educational institutions from Dinajpur Board, 29 from Technical Education Board and five each from Barisal and Rajshahi Education Boards failed to pass the SSC exam this year. Among these, there are also educational institutions with two to five examinees.
