Satkania Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Chittagong, Khondaker Mahmudul Hasan, has been transferred. Rajib Das Purkayastha, UNO of Naniarchar Upazila of Rangamati, has been posted as his replacement.
The posting was announced in a notification issued by the Chittagong Divisional Commissioner’s Office on August 24.
According to the notification, BCS (Administration) cadre officer Rajib Das Purkayastha has been transferred from Naniarchar in Rangamati Hill District to Satkania Upazila Nirbahi Officer in Chittagong. He was given the responsibility of Naniarchar Upazila Nirbahi Officer in Rangamati about two months ago. This time he has been given a new responsibility in an important upazila like Satkania.
On the other hand, in a separate notification dated August 23 by the Ministry of Public Administration, the current UNO of Satkania, Khondaker Mahmudul Hasan, has been assigned to Dhaka Division for further posting. As a result, his duties in Satkania are coming to an end.
According to relevant sources, while serving in Satkania, Khandaker Mahmudul Hasan was ordered to be transferred several times. Although he was ordered to be transferred to Mahalchhari Upazila of Rangpur Division and Khagrachhari District, he was allegedly kept in charge in Satkania through lobbying in various quarters. However, after the latest transfer order, he is no longer able to stay in Satkania. As a result, this UNO, who remained in Satkania despite being ordered to be transferred several times, has finally had to leave the upazila.
Discussions have been going on in the local administration and various circles for the past few days regarding the transfer of Khandaker Mahmudul Hasan. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Administration and the Chittagong Divisional Commissioner’s Office have made his transfer and appointment as a new UNO clear in separate notifications.
Meanwhile, the news of Rajib Das Purkayastha’s appointment as the new UNO of Satkania has sparked fresh discussions in the administrative circles. Rajib Das Purkayastha, who was serving in Naniarchar, Rangamati, is now going to take over the administrative responsibility of Satkania, one of the most important and populous upazilas of Chittagong.
Satkania is currently facing various important issues including dealing with flood and waterlogging damage, developing communication systems, implementing various government projects, law and order situation, and various administrative activities at the upazila level. Amidst these challenges, those concerned see Rajib Das Purkayastha’s assumption of responsibility as the new UNO as important.
According to the notification, new leadership is being ushered in at Satkania Upazila Administration with the joining of Rajib Das Purkayastha. And after multiple transfer discussions and orders, Khandaker Mahmudul Hasan is finally leaving Satkania.
