Towhid Hridoy has set a new record in Bangladesh’s first-class cricket by playing a historic innings of 350 runs against South Africa ‘A’ team. This time, the right-handed batsman is dreaming of playing such a memorable innings in the national team jersey as well.
The hosts had amassed a mammoth first innings total of 512 runs in the four-day match against South Africa. In reply, Bangladesh ‘A’ team came under pressure. However, Hridoy’s impeccable innings on the final day changed the picture of the match. After completing the first double century of his first-class career the previous day, he took the innings to 350 runs on the fourth day.
With this, he broke Tamim Iqbal’s record of 334 runs. Hridoy is now the owner of the highest runs in an innings in Bangladesh’s first-class cricket. Thanks to his innings, Bangladesh also took the lead against South Africa.
Hridoy expressed his feelings on social media after this historic innings. He wrote, ‘To be honest, this innings has made me more confident. I have received and am still receiving many good wishes. Thank you all.’
However, the national team batsman does not want to stop at this achievement. Expressing his dream of playing such a big innings for the national team, Hridoy wrote, ‘With the Man of the Match trophy, I kept thinking that one day I will play such an innings for the national team, Insha Allah. With the blessings of Allah and my mother, everything is possible.’
