Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, State Minister for the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, has said that the damage caused by the recent floods has been much less due to the government’s advance preparations and necessary steps.
He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a post-flood relief distribution ceremony in Mahalchhari Upazila of Khagrachhari on Sunday (July 19) afternoon.
At that time, the State Minister said, the government is working with utmost importance to alleviate the suffering of the flood-affected people. Keeping the needs of the affected people in mind, the government’s special food assistance program has been launched from today. Under this, the poorest people will receive food assistance at low prices. As a result of the government’s advance preparations, the administration’s promptness, and the coordinated efforts of all concerned, the damage in this year’s flood has been relatively less.

After the ceremony, the State Minister distributed relief to flood-affected people in Chongrachari, Pakuzzachari and Maisachari areas of Mahalchhari Upazila. Khagrachari MP Wadud Bhuiyan, Zilla Parishad Chairman and Deputy Commissioner, along with senior officials of various government departments, were present at the event.
After the relief distribution, the State Minister held a meeting with district-level officials and civil society members at the Khagrachari Circuit House at 2:45 pm. After the meeting, he is scheduled to leave for Chittagong.
