District detective police have arrested three members of an inter-district motorcycle theft gang in Louhajang, Munshiganj. A large quantity of drugs, including five stolen motorcycles, were recovered from them.
Superintendent of Police Menhazul Alam gave this information at a press conference at Padma Setu North Police Station on Monday morning. The Superintendent of Police said that a motorcycle was stolen from the Paschim Kumarbhog area under Padma Setu North Police Station in Louhajang Upazila on July 9.
A team of the district detective police started an investigation into the incident under his direction. At one stage of the investigation, a person named Sumon was arrested from Bappi Chattar area of Nitaiganj in Narayanganj district. Later, based on the information he provided, Hridoy Dewan and Sajeeb Paik were arrested from Tongibari upazila.
According to the information provided by the police, two stolen motorcycles were recovered during a raid in the Goali Manda area of Louhjang Upazila. At that time, the police arrested a drug dealer named Alauddin. Two motorcycles, 1,100 pieces of Yaba and 2 kg of marijuana were recovered from him.
Police Superintendent Md. Menhazul Alam said that the operation to arrest other members involved in the gang is continuing. Legal action is being taken against the detainees.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Kamran Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police of Srinagar Circle Anisur Rahman, Police Inspector of District Intelligence Branch Arjun Das, and OC of Padma Bridge North Police Station Syed Mohammad Akhter Hossain were present at the press conference.
