Two young men riding a motorcycle have died after falling into an under-construction culvert on the Chapainawabganj-Sonam Masjid highway. The accident occurred at 5:15 am on Tuesday in Muslimpur of Shahabajpur union of Shibganj upazila. Shibganj Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Khokon Chandra Bhowmik confirmed the matter.
The deceased were identified as Habibur Rahman (20), son of Sadiqul Islam, and Abul Hayat (35), son of Jamir Uddin, both of Baliadighi village in the same union. Both of them were truck workers. Khokon Chandra Bhowmik further said that they were returning to their home Baliadighi on a motorcycle after finishing their work as truck workers in Kansat. They were seriously injured when the motorcycle lost control and fell under the under-construction culvert.
Seeing the incident, passers-by on the road rescued them and took them to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex for treatment, where the doctor on duty declared them dead.
He also said that the body was handed over to the relatives as the family had no complaints.
