Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Ali Khamenei said Iranian officials have made every effort to sign a memorandum of understanding with the United States. On the other hand, the US president has desperately applied various types of pressure.
In a message on Thursday, Khamenei said, “Dear Iranian people, you know that a memorandum of understanding has been signed between Iran and the US president.” He added, “Our officials have worked with great goodwill to reach this stage. However, the US president has been desperate and has used various tactics.”
The deal calls for a permanent cessation of hostilities in all areas. It also calls for the lifting of the US naval blockade and the normalization of commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz within the next 30 days. It also calls for a $300 billion reconstruction plan for Iran and the lifting of US sanctions.
Mojtaba Ali Khamenei said that he initially disagreed with the agreement. However, he approved the agreement based on the promise of President Masoud Pezeshkian. Pezeshkian promised that they would protect the Iranian nation and the right to resistance.
The Supreme Leader said President Pjeshkian also said he would not accept any additional demands from the United States.
“From this moment on, we will all wait for these conditions to be met. Direct talks in the future do not mean that we will accept everything the enemy says,” Khamenei said.
Iran’s Supreme Leader also said that Imam Mahdi’s blessings and prayers will bring new victories for the Iranian nation.
