With the commitment to build a ‘green and beautiful future’, Bashundhara Shuvosangha has planted trees and distributed saplings of various species in Betagi Upazila of Barguna with the participation of students.
The program was held on Tuesday (July 21) at the premises of Putiakhali Adarsh ​​Secondary School in Bibichini Union of the upazila. During this time, saplings of forest, fruit and medicinal trees were distributed among the students of the school. At the same time, various species of trees were planted in the school premises.
The event featured discussions highlighting the importance of tree plantation in preserving the environment, combating the adverse effects of climate change, and expanding greening across the country. The speakers said that a tree is not only a source of oxygen; it also helps maintain environmental balance, preserve biodiversity, and combat the adverse effects of climate change. At the same time, it also plays an important role in building a habitable world for future generations.
Speaking as the chief guest, Betagi Upazila BNP joint convener Nurul Islam Panna said, “There is no alternative to tree plantation to maintain environmental balance and build a green Bangladesh. Such initiatives by organizations like Bashundhara Shuva Sangha will further accelerate the countrywide greening activities.”
Special guest, Acting Principal of Bibichini School and College Md. Zakir Hossain said, “This kind of initiative by Bashundhara Shuva Sangha, along with various government and private organizations, is highly commendable.” He urged the students to plant trees and take care of them regularly.
Upazila BNP joint convener Md. Nesar Uddin Khan, Md. Jalilur Rahman Khandaker, Bibichini Union Parishad panel chairman Md. Riaz Sikder, Bibichini School and College professor Md. Sekandar Ali Mridha and Md. Wadud Mia also spoke at the event.
The program was presided over by Betagi Press Club President and Bashundhara Shuvosangha Betagi Upazila Branch President Kamal Hossain Khan, while Branch Advisor Swapan Kumar Dhali moderated the program.
