A seventh-grade student opened fire in a classroom at a school in Zamboanga City, Philippines.
The incident took place on Tuesday morning and left two people dead.
The city’s mayor, Khaymar Adan Olasso, told DZMM radio that the two dead were students at the school. The shooter was also among the dead.
Regional police spokesman Shelami Cheng said security forces were trying to surround the school, but he did not provide further details.
Witnesses said the incident took place at Antonio de Zamboanga High School. Journalists at the scene also said the student who opened fire was a seventh-grader.
However, it is still not known how the student obtained the weapon and how he entered the classroom with it. Police have not yet provided any information about the reason or motive for the shooting.
