US President Donald Trump has said the proposed deal with Iran would stop Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons, describing it as fundamentally different from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
Referring to the deal struck under former President Barack Obama, Trump said, “His deal was an easy and smooth path to acquiring nuclear weapons. And my deal is the complete opposite of that.”Advertisement

Trump also said, “There will be no financial transaction this time in exchange for the hundreds of billions of dollars that Obama gave Iran.” US officials have described the emerging agreement as a framework based on “consent for opportunity.” They argue that Tehran will not receive any immediate economic benefits and that any future incentives will depend on its verified compliance with the terms of the agreement.
