A tanker has caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported this information.
Citing local authorities, UKMTO said the fire on the tanker has since been extinguished. All crew members on board are safe and their whereabouts have been confirmed.
No harmful effects on the environment have been reported so far from the incident.
There was no immediate information on what the object that hit the tanker was. UKMTO also described the incident as an ‘unknown object’.
