The price of gold jewelry has been increased in the country’s market. The price of the best quality or 22 carat gold jewelry per bhori (11.664 grams) has been increased by 1,633 taka. With this, the price of a good quality bhori gold jewelry, including VAT, has been fixed at 2 lakh 36 thousand 779 taka.
The price hike has been made due to the rising price of acidic gold in the local market. The price hike came into effect from 10 am on Thursday (August 13), the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) said.
The decision to increase the price was made at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Thursday. This information was announced in a press release signed by the committee’s chairman, Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.
Earlier, on August 11, the price of a single gram of good quality gold jewelry was increased by Tk 1,108. Two days after this price increase, the price has now been increased again.
Now, the price of a bhori of gold jewelry of the best quality or 22 carats, including VAT, has been increased by Tk 1,633 to Tk 2,36,779. The price of a bhori of gold jewelry of 21 carats has been increased by Tk 1,575 to Tk 2,26,165.
In addition, the price of one 18-carat gold jewelry piece has been increased by Tk 1,342 to Tk 1,94,206. And the price of one 18-carat gold jewelry piece made using traditional methods has been increased by Tk 1,108 to Tk 1,58,630.
Earlier, from 10 am on August 13, the price of a bhori of gold jewelry of the best quality or 22 carats, including VAT, was increased by Tk 1,108 to Tk 2,35,146. The price of a bhori of gold jewelry of 21 carats was increased by Tk 1,049 to Tk 2,24,590.
Besides, the price of one 18-carat gold jewellery piece has been increased by Tk 933 to Tk 1,92,864. And the price of one 18-carat gold jewellery piece made using traditional methods has been increased by Tk 700 to Tk 1,57,522. Gold jewellery is being sold at this price till 9:59 am today.
While the price of gold jewelry has been increased, the price of silver jewelry has remained unchanged. The price of a 22-carat bhori of silver jewelry, including VAT, has been set at 5,074 taka.
In addition, the price of a 21-carat bhori of silver jewelry has been set at 4,841 taka, a 18-carat bhori of silver jewelry at 4,199 taka, and a traditional silver jewelry at 3,159 taka.
