Five people have been killed in a shooting in Michigan, US. Police say the body of the suspect has been found after a search.
The incident occurred in the northern part of the state on Friday, Michigan State Police said in a statement on social media.
Reuters news agency reported that officers responded to a shooting at a home in Miskakee County at about 11:40 a.m. local time. Three people were found dead and one person was injured. The injured person was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
Initial police investigations identified the suspect as 39-year-old Chad Hickman. He fled the scene before officers arrived, prompting a massive manhunt for him.
During the raid, investigators found the body of another person in a second house.
Police later found Hickman’s car in a wooded area near Whitlock Lake, where Hickman and another person were found dead.
Police did not release the names, ages or genders of the victims, but authorities said they were in the process of notifying their next of kin.
