A woman and a teenage girl have died after being run over by a train near Comilla Railway Station. They were run over by the Chittagong-bound Subarna Express train at 7:10 pm on Tuesday, the railway police said.
The deceased are Josna Begum (60), wife of the late Mizan Mia, and his granddaughter Chandni (14), of Uttarpara area of Muradnagar upazila in Comilla.
Relatives said they were returning home after receiving treatment at Comilla Medical College Hospital on Tuesday morning when they were hit by a train and died.
ASI Mamunur Rashid of the Comilla station outpost of the Bangladesh Railway Police said that Josna Begum and her granddaughter Chandni were crushed under the Chittagong-bound Subarna Express train while crossing the railway line in the Shasngacha area. Police later recovered the bodies from the scene.
Railway Police said that their bodies will be handed over to their relatives after the completion of legal procedures.
