Indian actor and presenter Shekhar Suman recently opened up about the most painful chapter of his life. His eldest son Ayush Suman died of a rare heart condition at the age of 11. He said that even after three decades, the wound has not healed.
According to Shekhar Suman, the disease that changed the entire family
, his father, who was a doctor, first noticed abnormalities in Ayush’s body. Later, tests revealed that the child was suffering from an extremely rare heart disease, endomyocardial fibrosis. Doctors told the family that there was no effective treatment for the disease and the chances of survival were very low.
Shekhar later said in several interviews that while doctors had given him a few months, Ayush fought for almost four years to survive. But in the end, he died on April 3, 1995, at the age of just 11.
‘We could never forget him’
In a recent interview, Shekhar said that he and his wife Alka Suman still talk about Aayush every day. In his words, ‘We talk to him, we talk to his pictures. We talk about him every day. We could never forget him.’
Earlier, he had admitted that he and his wife were in severe depression for a long time after the death of their child. At one point, he even lost the will to live.

Pride in God
The shock of Ayush’s death also shook Shekhar spiritually. He said in an interview that after losing his son, he closed the temple in his house and removed the idols of gods and goddesses. He had a deep pride in God.
However, with time, that anger gradually took a different form. He returned to spirituality and started believing that Ayush was somehow with them even after death.
